AROMAHERB CONFERENCE DRAWS WORLDWIDE PARTICIPATION
The 5th Annual AromaHerb Conference and Trade Show was held on March 2 - 4, 2001, in Tempe, Arizona. Nearly 1,000 attendees from around the world participated in the event, in addition to more than 90 companies that specialize in essential oil production, and other areas of the Natural Product Industry.
Bruce Leftakes, publisher of Health Products Business, was the honorary speaker at the opening ceremony and discussed HPB's role in helping expand the market through education and enhanced coverage. David Christopher, director of The School of Natural Healing delivered the keynote address.
More than 50 speakers delivered 82 educational seminars and panel discussions that covered essential oil production, herbs and nutrition, packaging and labeling, and company employee business relations.
Producers and distillers of essential oils came from Germany, England, Spain, Czech Republic, Brazil, Madagascar, Sri Lanka, China, Australia, Canada and the USA. Featured speakers included: Dr. Karl-Werner Quirin, co-founder of Flavex Naturextrakte GmbH; David Beaver, senior chemist for I.P. Callison & Sons; Harvey Farber, senior vice president of Technology Flavor and Fragrances; Carol Schiller, author of books on essential oils; Vladimir Sturma, co-owner of Flaveko; John Wendel, founder and general manager of RCB International Ltd., Ken Goodger, director of Norfolk Essential Oils; D.A. Perera, owner of EOAS Organics PVT Ltd.; Marco Janssen, owner of DaVentria; Alistair Nicklin, director of La Terre Ltd.; Olivier Behra, director of BioSave.
Featured speakers on herbs and nutrition included: Dr. John Chen, president of Lotus Herbs; Alex Moffett, president of Renaissance Herbs; Zhengang Guo, president of Life Rising Corp.; Mark Kaylor, consultant to Maitake Products; Lori Siegler, product manager for Larex Inc.; Dr. Louis DePalma, biochemist and consultant for Enzyme Formulations; Paul Stamets, CEO of Fungi Perfecti; Dr. Gerald Bidawid, owner of Preparations Bioagritechnoligiques Naturelles; Dr. Debasis Bagchi, vice president of research and development of InterHealth Nutraceuticals.
